Being old is a gift from God. To many, it means that they already have enjoyed the many long years of their lives. But to some, it is quite bothersome. There are elderlies who do not have the means to enjoy their retirement. Let us face the fact that not all of us can earn as much as others do. That was the very reason why when Stan Kipping knew that he has Alzheimer’s disease, he and his wife were devastated. The elderly couple from Red Bud, Illinois lived a peaceful and simple life. With this being said, they sure could not afford the expensive treatment that needs continuity.
Pat knew that Stan’s medical bills are bound to be as high as a mountain. With those unexpected expenses coming, of course, they still need to take care of some other bills. One of which was the $100 monthly car payment for their 1998 Buick Century. They did know what to do next. They just decided to give everything to God. But still, there came the time when a repo man was sent to their home to recover the Kipping’s vehicle. Though some must have been stubborn in giving back the keys of their car, Pat gave the keys to the repo man Jim Ford. Little did they know that that strange man would be a vessel of a huge miracle in their lives. Pat later shared what happened to CBS news.
“When he took the car I said, ‘God, do whatever, whatever you think is best for us.’ You know, God works in mysterious ways.”
Jim then began to drive the truck where the car was hooked, but he only has driven a few feet when guilt took over. He knew that he needed to do something. He felt the helplessness that the couple was feeling. Jim described the moment, saying:
“They’re like America’s grandparents. I saw my grandparents in them. And I made it a block before I pulled over and called the bank. And I asked them if I could pay off the past due amount.”
The good Samaritan started a GoFundMe page to help the couple. Thankfully, donations from across the country poured out and were more than enough to cover their loans. A few days later, Jim went back in the couple’s front yard delivering back their car. Once he handed them the keys, he then also handed them a white envelope with $17,000 inside. Stan and Pat could not hold their emotions. They broke down in front of Jim, thanking him for how huge a favor he has given them. Pat genuinely shared:
“He was wonderful. I mean, he’s the kindest man I’ve ever met in all my life… There are good people out there. He’s our guardian angel.”
