Hasselback potatoes are a type of baked potatoes. In here, potatoes are cut about halfway through it into thin slices. Usually, butter, breadcrumbs, and almonds are added on top of the potatoes. But this particular video will teach you how to make it in an extra special kind of way, with bacon and cheese in it. It was originally a Swedish invention that had many countries all over the world adapt.
Unknown to many, created by its namesake in 1700, the Hasselbacken Hotel vowed to cater potato lovers all over the world. And that they had discovered this dish. The secret of this dish was its initial preparation wherein the potato should be sliced about ¾ through it, leaving a little part under to prevent the potato from breaking apart.
Once it is already sliced, put the butter, the amount depending on your taste, in between the slices. Then sprinkle salt and pepper over it to taste, of course, it varies again upon your taste preference. Put a little bit of olive oil on top of it, then bake for 30 minutes at 400 degrees.
While you are waiting for the potato, you should prepare for the part which will make this dish extra special! Prepare the bacon and bake it for 15 minutes, or until crispy. While waiting, you have quite a time remaining to chop some sprigs of chives. After all the “bakings” are done, you should put the crispy bacon in between the potato slices. Then, another secret for it is that you should put shredded cheese on top of it! Again, it would always depend on your taste preference. Bake it again until the cheese melts.
For plating, put some sour cream on top of the Hasselback potato. Put some olive oil again and a bit or powdered pepper. And there you go, an extra special Hasselback potato! Watch the procedure here for more details:
