State Police Officer Emotionally Calls Into Dispatch Before He Ends His 37-Year Service

Loyalty is one thing that is really hard to find in today’s fast-pacing world. People have always said that change is the only constant thing in this world. But State Police Officer Mark Gilberg was far from that. In terms of work, he was indeed loyal. For almost four decades, he has been patrolled on the well-occupied and busy streets of Northern Arizona. Each day for 37 years, he has called the same number to report after patrolling. But his recent call has gone viral. Officer Mark was so emotional while calling the familiar number.

Apparently, his daughter planned to record his entire last call to his fellow troopers. She just wanted to capture his last call for him to remember it all the days after his long years of service. However, she recorded a whole lot more. The officer was so emotional that he could barely talk. His statement started as he said: “Badge 2988 began his career … March 11, 1981,” and after his final words, “This will be my final 10-7.”

The video became even more emotional when the officer on the other end of the line thanked him for his service. Officer Mark really seemed so sad at the thought of leaving the department. He could barely deliver his final words. But the story did not just end with his words. After cutting the line, the officer was recorded crying inside the patrol car.

Everyone who has seen the video was inspired by how much the officer loved his job. It was another level of loyalty, not just to his job but also to the people of Northern Arizona.
