Couple Carlos Sepeda, Jr. and wife Tammy were out with the former’s mom, Jill Jones. Apparently, they were trying to ignore the fact that their lives were changed in an entirely different way with the recent Hurricane Harvey. Its 130-mile-per-hour winds brought devastating effect to where it landed which was near Rockport. Because the family was residing there, there were ones of the many who were severely affected by the hurricane.
Without having them say it specifically, they sure lost many of their belongings. But for many families, it is far more important to be safe, our top priority is to keep ourselves safe. With the thought of, at least, forgetting what’s in front of them, the family went out to have their dinner at Sam’s Restaurant in Fairfield, Texas. As they were enjoying their time there, they got to have a pretty good chat with their waitress Mary Gough.
With a very little amount of time, they were able to vividly explain how devastated their belongings have been. The kind waitress sympathized with them. She sure felt what they were feeling that time. After few minutes of talking with them, Mary Gough did something the Sepeda’s did not expect at all. The moment the three were planning to leave, the kind waitress went to embrace them another time. But she gave them one unexpected note, saying:
“This isn’t much compared to your loss. Buy you something special. God bless – my prayers are w/u”
It was a sheet of paper with all those words scribbled, she gave them a hundred dollars as well. It was a really sincere gesture that the family will always remember. They did not expect it. Apparently, they just realized that there was a bill inserted in there the moment they were already in their car. The couple even went back trying to return the money. But she insisted.
Carlos immediately shared what happened on his Facebook account, saying:
“This is how I know Texas is great!”
We sure need more of this kind waitress!
