A family is something that every individual treasure. It is something that no thief can take. But like many people say, everything has its limits. At some point in time, something ends and something starts at the same time.
One usual day at Louisiana’s Lafayette General Medical Center has been an entirely unusual day. Veteran James Lee Grimmett passed away at the hospital. He was 86-year-old that time. Jamie Fontenot, his daughter, naturally was grieving and was so emotional. She could not even think that her dad just passed away. But when Jamie walked out of the hallway, she immediately heard one sound that literally made her day. She heard something like a lullaby playing in the hospital’s sound system. In the hospital’s tradition, that particular sound would only be played when a baby was born. And it was a beautiful thing thinking that a baby was born immediately after James’ passing.
“Somebody said, ‘That’s Dad’s angel.'”
The baby was named Kingston Hall. His parents were Connie Despanie and Benjamin Hall. after hearing the beautiful sound of the lullaby, Jamie wrote a letter to the parents of the newborn.
“I didn’t even think about it at the time (but) something just moved me to go get paper and write a note.”
She then left her note to Dr. Jennifer Pugliese and nurse Cydney Begnaud who helped deliver Kingston. The doctor handed the written letter to mommy Connie. As she started reading what was in it, she also started spilling tears.
“She started reading it silently and she just had tears streaming down her face, it was really beautiful.”
Connie shared the note with her husband. Apparently, before Kingston was born, they were already thinking as to what would be his middle name. And the handwritten note just hinted them to the best middle name for their baby. They both read:
“To my dad’s angel: Even though I will never know your name, you are the first child born here after my dad’s passing at 10:41 a.m. approximately this morning. When one life is taken, another is given – so you are the angel that I will relate with my Dad. I hope your life and the life of your family has as many blessing as my Dad gave me and my 8 siblings! Please keep my dad in your prayers. His name is James.”
After this note was delivered to Kingston’s family, many things have happened. That includes meeting Jamie for the first time. Their interview was so emotional and heart-melting. It inspires people to find family in the lives of other people.
